Land Training

 

 

RSS BASIC COURSE (LAND)

 

 

 

AIM

 

1.   This course which is of twelve weeks duration, is to train participants in the basic military fundamentals skills required in order to take their respective places in a section of the Special Service Unit (SSU) Task Force Unit (TFU) or Special Patrol Group (SPG).

 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE

2.  On successfully completing the Course students would be proficient in the following areas:

(a)   Human Rights

(b)   Narcotic Interdiction, Eradication and Prosecution

(c)   Operations during Disaster

(d)   Handle and Fire Personal Weapons

(e)   Pass TOETs on Personal and Alternative Weapon

(f)     Act as a member of a fire Team/ Section an Operation or Exercise

(g)   Live and Operate in a Jungle Theatre

(h)  Act as a member of a Crowd Control/ Dispersal Group.

RSS SECTION LEADERS

 

AIM

 

1.       This Course which is of six weeks duration is to train junior leaders and potential junior leaders, so that they may command and train members of a SSU or equivalent unit.

 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE

 

2.       The objectives of the Course are as follows:

a.    To enhance and improve junior leaders in their leadership qualities.

b.    To improve on the capabilities of junior leaders on the method of Instruction in order to better train their unit.

c.    To provide training, planning and management for junior leaders who can in turn impart their knowledge to their unit.

d.    To test junior leaders in their ability in Map Reading and Navigation.

e.    To train and test junior leaders in receipt, preparation and issuing of orders.

f.     To enhance the knowledge of junior leaders in aspects of military tactics and patrolling.

g.    To test and improve junior leaders in their physical and mental standards.

h.    To improve the students knowledge and practical awareness of jungle operations.

i.     To train junior leaders in Human Rights Issues.

RSS INSTRUCTORS’ RANGE SUPERVISION

 

AIM

 

1.       This course of six weeks duration is to train Senior NCOs and Potential NCOs as Instructors so that they can instruct Force and RSS personnel to the RSS standard laid down by the Regional Security Coordinator.

 

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE

 

2.       The Course is designed to give students a proper foundation in all the fundamental skills required to become Instructors for both land and sea personnel.

 

a.  General Instructional Techniques

 

·         Write Performance and Instructional objectives

·         Prepare Lesson Plans

·         Prepare and Use Audio/Visual Equipment

·         Use various Methods of instructional Communication

·         Make Presentation as and Individual and as a Member of a Team

·         Manage a Classroom-learning Environment.

 

b.     Range Supervision

 

·         Coach Individual Shooters

·         Coach the Backward Shot

·         Plan Ranges up to Stage Three (III)

(Static Gallery Ranges)

·         Conduct Range Practices up to Stage

RSS COMMAND AND STAFF

(SENIOR AND JUNIOR) COURSE

 

 

AIM  

         

1.       This Course which is of ten weeks duration is to prepare Police Officers to perform Staff functions of a general nature that are appropriate to their ranks and to provide the foundation for their subsequent professional development. It is also designed to further develop the management and operational command skills of potential Senior Police Officer.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE

 

2.       This Course is designed to enable Officers to:

 

 

     a.       To raise strategic awareness.

 

     b.       To develop operational command skills.

 

c.       Solve problems logically, make decisions,

recommendations and to conduct effective oral and written communication.

 

d.       Understand and apply the principle

 techniques and doctrine of joint military and police operations.

 

       e.       Understand and apply the functions of Command and Staff work of the RSS

Headquarters.

REGIONAL SECURITY SYSTEM
