On Monday, May 17, U.S. Ambassador to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS, Linda Taglialatela and Executive Director of the Regional Security System (RSS), Captain Errington Shurland, formally signed the agreement which will enhance the ability of Eastern Caribbean law enforcement and justice officials to investigate regional criminal actors.

The Letter of Agreement on countering organized and gang-related crime provides the framework for the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs to support the RSS and its Member States on law enforcement professionalization, narcotics interdiction, organized crime investigations, and rule of law programs. The project provides US$1.65 million in additional funding for the RSS.

Ambassador Taglialatela thanked Captain Shurland for the RSS’ long-standing cooperation with the U.S. Embassy on a wide range of security issues in the region and conveyed to him the importance of their continued cooperation against organized criminal actors.

​The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), through its Regional Health Project, is inviting eligible consultants to apply for a Consultancy for Assessment, Development and Implementation of Laboratory Specimen Transportation Agreements, Policies and Legislation in the OECS.

This consultancy aims to develop and implement a sustainable and integrated specimen transportation system for the OECS Member States to enable effective and efficient transportation of specimens from the various health facilities to the diagnostic laboratories in and out of the country.

​The CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) is inviting tenders for the supply and installation of equipment to host the production of Environment, Development and Testing Environment and Disaster Recovery Environment for the CARISECURE project.

This aims to improve CARICOM IMPACS’ ICT infrastructure to enable them to host the CARISECURE Application.

Participation is open to all natural and legal persons (participating either individually or in a grouping of tenderers) of any nationality, and to international organisations. All supplies under this contract may originate from any country.

The CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) is currently engaged in the execution of a project entitled Capacity Building For CARIFORUM Member States on Financial Compliance, Asset Recovery and Cybercrime. The programme, which is funded by the 11th European Development Fund, aims to improve the sustainability of safety and security in the CARIFORUM region.

CARICOM IMPACS, therefore, invites experts to submit bids to develop draft model legislation for CARICOM Member States in support of the CARICOM Agreement on the Return or Sharing of Recovered Assets.
