The Regional Security System recently concluded its Polygraph Continuation Education Course, which was held in collaboration with the European Union (EU).
During the opening remarks at a brief closing ceremony recently held at the Joint Regional Communications Centre (JRCC) in Wildey, St. Michael, Programme Coordinator at the RSS, Rhea Reid-Bowen, stated that the course provided an opportunity for the participants to learn best practices, share experiences and improve their competencies as polygraph examiners.
"The RSS Polygraph Examiners’ Refreshers course was designed to increase capacity among a select cadre of persons in screening and diagnostic testing. Specifically, the course was designed to ensure RSS Polygraph Examiners meet the APA approved continuation training requirements on a biennial basis," she outlined.
Mrs. Reid-Bowen noted that this initiative was one of the programmes of the 11th EDF Project with which the RSS was partnering with the EU, and deemed it as "timely" as our region was continuously faced with the threat of transnational organised crime.
She urged the participants to acknowledge the importance of the training as the RSS continues its efforts to protect the integrity of our region's trusted public institutions, as they stand on the front lines in the fight against transnational and other organised crime.
"As RSS continues to explore novel ways of protecting the domestic space from external threats, we are cognizant that we must also ensure the viability of our security architecture by minimizing the risks to the efficacy of our institutions," she maintained.
