Digital Forensics Lab
On August 18, 2017, RSSDFL commenced operations at the Fusion Centre, situated at RSS Headquarters in Christ Church, Barbados. The state of the art lab is mandated to provide Digital Forensics services to law enforcement and military organisations of the eight member states. It also provides digital forensics examination services to non-RSS Member States where possible.
This project was jointly conceived by the RSS and the United States Embassy’s Regional Security Office, and funded by the Embassy’s office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. The lab is owned and operated by the RSS, under the direction of the RSS Executive Director.
The DFL continues to be a critical department in the investigative efficiencies in the RSS Police Forces as virtually every crime has a digital footprint. Therefore, accurate analysis of mobile phone and other digital device data is often critical to law enforcement investigations and successful prosecutions.
