Regional Security System

Strategic Planning

In an effort to contribute to the stability and well-being of the region, the RSS is guided by its Strategic Plan which focuses on improving citizen security and environmental resilience in the RSS Member States. The expectation is that citizen security in the Member States will be improved through specific focus on improving national and joint responses to terrorism, cybercrime, illicit drugs and arms trafficking, and natural and manmade hazards.
The efforts directed toward tackling these threats will be buttressed through improved domain awareness and data analytical and modelling capabilities, accurate threat assessment and foresighting, strengthened operational and legislative frameworks in the Member States in policing inclusive of digital forensics investigations, financial investigations and asset recovery, strengthened capacities in asset management and disposal and a restructured Headquarters with heightened systems for mobilisation of financial and human resources and a strong ICT infrastructure, an efficient training delivery system and a logical roadmap for stakeholder engagement. The RSS operations architecture will expand to address new and emerging security concerns related to environmental and public health threats. Building environmental resilience will cause RSS to undertake activities centred around fisheries management, pollution prevention and control, and enhancing surveillance of the maritime commons.
