Training Institute

The bold initiative that is the RSS Training Institute contributes to a reduction in the levels of disparity as it pertains to knowledge and training among the RSS Membership, and supports significant reduction in the total cost for police training at the lower and senior levels of the spectrum. The Training Institute maintains responsibility for the design and execution of standardised training, a structured quality assurance mechanism for training delivery and instructor criteria, and the recognition of RSS Training programmes by established education institutions. The general duties of the Training and Doctrine Directorate include:

• Monitoring and assessing the training needs and progress of the law enforcement sector in critical areas.
• Coordination of training programmes and other related ventures such as workshops in the areas of management and specialised skills in the law enforcement sector.
• Establishment of regional standards for training and operating equipment.
• Recognition of all training programmes offered by the RSS Training Institute.
